You are a Participant

So here’s an interesting way to think about non-duality:

You are sitting there watching a video on YouTube or maybe reading my webpage. What’s really going on?

Our Western conditioning is that we are consumers of everything. Very likely things that I’m saying upset you. Often I say it unclearly, or I say it wrong. You immediately feel you haven’t been given your product correctly. Look at the comments in my videos. People get mad.

You are sitting there watching this video, reading this page. What if you switched from consumer to participant?

I’m posting all these videos. What if you helped me learn to say things better? That would be a benefit to both of us, right? But most important is it would take you out of the need to tell me I’m wrong.

Sidebar: BTW… I’m talking about non-duality. I can’t be wrong because it’s about nothing. (snickering laugh)

What would happen if you became a participant? Post comments on questions and ideas that that come up. Things that will be helpful.

Like, say, “This it didn’t really make a whole lot of sense. Did you really mean something else?” Or maybe, “I’m not seeing it.”

What if you were a participant in making my videos better? What if you were bigger than that? What if you were a participant in making YouTube itself better?

I mean, YouTube’s this big huge thing. You can find anything you want on YouTube. It’s changing the world. If you’re making YouTube better, and you’re making you better, and you’re making me better, and you’re participating in this awake positive way, then we are all, literally, changing everything together.

Other than that, I’m just a dumb person going blah blah blah blah and saying all sorts of stupid stuff that may or may not mean something to anybody.

But what if we all were one? What if it’s not two? What if me learning how to do this better, and you learning how to do what you do better, is all part of the same thing happening?

That’s a pretty big picture. Especially when you start to think about eight billion people living life in that way. It’d be a very different place. Wouldn’t it?
