You don’t have an inner child. I don’t have an inner child. If you understand the principles of non-duality, you know that the whole idea of an inner child can’t exist in reality because it’s two things.
In the theory there’s you, and then there’s the inner child inside.
That makes two, so it can’t be true. It’s all one.
So that changes everything about the way we look at ourselves. Are we going to continuously try to heal this inner child that doesn’t exist? Or are we going to live firmly in the now and in the present moment?
Not to say we aren’t all mixed up. You do have lots of conditionings, which literally just means you are part of everything. All of the things that you’ve heard and said and done, and have been done to you, are part of this immense integrated whole that is you. And not just you. You are in a society of other people who’ve experienced very similar things, and we’re in a world full of people who have experienced very different things because they come from different cultures.
And even more than that, we are surrounded by the four-legged beings. We’re surrounded by the winged beings. We’re surrounded by the plants and the things that come to us to eat, and everything that’s out in our yard, in the beautiful vistas that we can see when we’re out in nature, or we’re surrounded by a bustling city. That’s still part of oneness. Everything is together.
So, you don’t have this little separate thing, the wounded inner child ,that needs to be dealt with. Instead, work to be the most integrated, vibrant whole that you can be.
