Nonduality makes people go into their heads

Non-duality really makes people go into their heads, which is weird because the purpose of it, obviously, is to do the exact opposite. So it’s interesting to think… why is that?

Maybe it’s the kind of person that’s drawn to non-duality. Maybe it’s the sources of Non-duality teachings which—let’s be honest—are obscure sounding, and weird and wordy. These teachings come from—again to be honest—what we can only see as powerfully attained men.

You might argue… ‘But they don’t have any possessions and they’re happy about everything whether it’s good or bad. They are pure and not powerful.’

But—again to be honest—the ones we hear from are the ones who attained some sort of fame. Right? We never hear from an enlightened teacher that no-one has heard of. It’s simple math. History is written by the winners… yes?

And that makes our little modern brains go weird. All the enlightened people we hear from are the famous ones. Everybody starts thinking that there’s something really powerful to attain. So maybe that’s what makes people go so into their heads.

Also, it’s the obscurity of talking about nonduality that turns us into full speed “Blah, bla, bla.”

Our brains are trained to be fixated on hierarchy. If it feels important we are all over it. “This is really obscure, I gotta explain it in the most obscure words I possibly can find.” Talking about it makes us feel smart.

So there’s something about Nonduality that makes us go into our heads and makes people just go crazy that way.

I would like to invite everyone to notice that in yourself. If you’re studying non-duality, which very likely you are, which is why you ended up on my YouTube video… Take a little look at yourself and go, ‘Am I attracted to this obscurity?’ And how does it make my brain go into overdrive?

Hopefully that kind of self inquiry will loop you into the point of ‘doesn’t make sense… doesn’t make sense’ and just stop. Because it doesn’t need to make sense to our modern conditioned brains. It only needs to make sense to the actual “you”. The “who are you” you.
