If we want to rewrite the human story to give ourselves a more realistic view of who we are as human beings, we need to rethink the way that we see, uh, pre-civilized people. We are constantly told that they were miserable and dirty and hungry, and only lived to 30 years old, and it was a horrible existence. Basically, they were sitting around just waiting to evolve. But, but it’s starting to become clear that that is not necessarily true. And the way we are relearning this history is starting to listen to the native communities that we still have available to us on the planet, who tell us that existence before civilization was actually way more civilized, pleasant, comfortable.
– How Does History Relate to Nonduality –
So, how does history relate to non-duality? It’s actually very important because when we understand the context of where human beings have been living, we can see how the stories of our spirituality have been created. This is particularly true for Nonduality, which comes from a long history in the East. This Enlightenment religion-spirituality was created in a culture that had already become divided from the natural world. So, it was a story of how to become undivided within that context. Rewrite the context, and we rewrite how to become undivided.
