A Short Recap

As we move forward into some action items, let’s have just a short recap about what we’ve been talking about. It’s very simple but it needs to be gone over and over and over again. It can be hard to grasp the simple because we tend to make things complicated.

The bottom line in what I’m trying to say is that we have all been lied to since the day we were born. We’ve been lied to by people who were themselves lied to. Their parents lied to them, and their parents lied to them. I’m talking about subtle little lies about who we are. Lies that make us think we are something way more complicated than we actually are.

We are each just one simple human being, that’s what we are. But we have been given this complicated story that has caused us to project ourselves outside of ourselves. One of those stories is, of course, the gods. If you think that there is a God outside of yourself, that you have to pray to in order to get things, it creates a complicated interior experience. It makes us forget that we’re just one being, completely interconnected with everything and everyone else.

We have so many tools now to put this together. We have science and anthropology. Just in my lifetime, there have been amazing breakthroughs in the study of human pre-history. New information comes out all the time, so we have this new way of looking at who we are. Women are starting to get voices and telling new stories about who we are. Simply having both men and women available in the story of humanity is a huge breakthrough.

When I was a small child, it was like men were the people… and women… I don’t know what we were doing. I guess we were just watching. But now we’re participating. We’re part of this.

There was a period, again I experienced this in my lifetime, where women were participating as just the helpers of men. Then we rebelled and were participating all angry. There was no way to figure out who we were. We’d been left out of the story of humanity itself. Now we’re starting to come in and really put ourselves into this story of how humanity works and who we are.

History has given us these things. Now we have global communication, so we are able to see people across the whole world. We can truly see how other cultures are living. Our ability to communicate and read is enormous. We can self-educate ourselves into new things.

Another big thing is that we now have a simple understanding of math that, believe it or not, is the biggest breakthrough in spirituality that we could hope to have. This is because what you’re looking to discover is that there’s only one person inside of you. With just the simplest math, you can understand this concept of not two. That you are only one person. Can’t you? Simple math. You can’t search for yourself outside of yourself.

A camera can’t take a picture of itself. You can’t see your own eyes. Just that simple.

I can’t look for who I am outside of me, or even inside of me, because I am the one looking.

We have enough education to really understand this. If we can crack through the crazy spirituality that has come to us from all directions, East, West, everywhere, and realize, “Oh, it’s that simple. I am the one looking, I’m me,” then we break through into freedom.

So that’s a little recap. Next we’re going to go through a couple of little steps to break through this crack.
