It’s a Pleasure

Most important, as we move forward into the last section of this series, please know that it is a pleasure to know who you are. We’ve been told we’re this horrible thing: a faulty, disgusting, destructive human being. So there’s this feeling to avoid ourselves. The subtle sense that when I find out who I am… am I going to like that? It’s why we pretend to be something other than what we are.

In reality you’re just this simple ‘nothing’ experiencer that’s been experiencing life. A lot of your experiences have been horrible, yes, but you are not that. You are the one that has been experiencing it. It’s a real pleasure to discover who you are, and I think it’s better to think of it that way.

On the other hand, it’s not as fabulous as you may think either. So many of our stories give the enlightenment moment as this huge explosion of self-realization where you burst away into eternal bliss. But that interpretation is not helpful. Yeah, I mean, yeah, it’s pretty exciting, but we are just looking for a relaxed, normal knowing of who you are. And this is what you are born to realize.

Think of that, it’s a pleasure. When you meet and read and see other people who are obviously awake see it as a pleasure. Give a nice calm handshake, “It’s nice to meet you.”

With this idea, we can start getting together on a new level of cooperation.

I want to take you back to the stories I have been telling in this series. The section on babies shows that human beings are hardwired to cooperate. When we do this consciously, a whole new world can be born. This is what it’s all about.

There are so many brilliant people alive on the Earth today. We need to give all of us an opportunity to do the thing we each do best. This is how we create a complete, beautiful sustainable way to live.
