Nonduality is edgeless. What is that place in your being where there’s no edge? No place where ‘you’ stop? This is the non-dual state.
You can’t define yourself completely 100% separate from other things. Everything is interconnected. There’s no edge where ‘I’ ends and reality starts. There’s no edge where reality ends and ‘I’ start. We’re completely intersected together.
When we see ourselves, living life in this way, then the way we approach everything changes. You’re not going to harm something else because you’re also harming yourself. There’s no edges between you and it. We’re going to be kinder to each other this way. Strangely enough, we’re also going to have what you would call more personal boundaries, right? Because you’re not going to allow anything else to harm you; you’re going to see things as they are.
We live in a situation where most of the people around us are living in a very strict dual state. They believe firm and hard things about who they are. This keeps them separate from life and makes them really kind of dangerous.
You have to know how to interact within this state that exists without your own prickly edges. As you interact with life this way, things around you get better. The more you prove yourself to be trustworthy, the more people around you are going to be trustworthy. That’s how we’re edgeless.
Opposite is also true. The more we’re mean and angry, the people around us become mean and angry, right? If we’re confused, it’s very easy to share confusion. If we’re ignorant, it’s easy to share ignorance. If we’re knowledgeable, it’s easier to share knowledge.
There’s a huge responsibility involved in being edgeless because everything that we touch touches us; everything that we touch is us. We’re living in a dance of reality where everything matters because everything touches and blends in with everything else.
