Nonduality is unity. Once the separate self drops, all that’s left is the relationship of everything to everything else. All that’s left is the way that we interrelate. All that’s left is unity.
In nonduality, we tend to avoid saying things like “Oneness” and “unity” because our habit is to turn unity into a goal to achieve or Oneness into a thing to attain. That’s why nonduality is described as “not two” instead of using words like unity, togetherness, or Oneness. But it encompasses all those concepts too.
We are the vast sum of everything we’ve ever been as human beings, so in that sense, we are already unified with ourselves. We are the vast sum of every interaction we’ve had throughout our lives, and the sum of every one of our ancestors and how they interacted with life, leading to the creation of you and me. We are so unified that you can’t isolate any part with tweezers.
The big challenge for humans is to see this unity and be in it. Sometimes recognizing how interconnected everything is can seem scary, but if you look at it from the perspective of who you truly are, it becomes evident: of course, everything interacts in unity.
