A Great Buddhist Teacher

When we’re working with Atisha’s exercise we get the idea of what it’s like to be with an authentic master. Atisha was a great Buddhist Master in medieval times. The simplicity of it is the anti-ego of it.

Breathe in all the pain and misery of the world and then breathe out love and compassion.

Typically we see it the other way around. In our our modern world we believe in create your own reality, and stuff like that. So many of the teachings that we are given today is really just ego food. You can feel how it makes the separate part of yourself feel better. That’s kind of the point of it I guess.

But when you’re working with a real master they don’t care how the broken part of yourself feels. They are only interested in bringing forth your mastery.

Atisha’s exercise is very good at doing that so.

As you play around with this exercise feel the difference between these two things. This is a fun way to do self-inquiry.
