You are not your mind because you can change your mind. Just like you can change a tire on your car. You can change your mind. Well, hopefully you can.

Zen masters are very tricky folk. They are not going to necessarily do what you think they should do. They are not going to follow your rules. 

What does nothing look like? Well it doesn’t look like much of anything, does it? That’s so much the meaning of this week’s Zen story.

Today’s Zen story is about pretending to look more enlightened than somebody else. And the craziness that comes from that.

The purpose of Zen stories isn’t to make us feel better. Or to make us feel we already know something. It’s to shake us up. And that’s our story about death this week.

There are more enlightened people available today than there have ever been.

One of my own little sayings is, “If enlightenment looked like something… then everyone would try to look enlightened.”
