Enlightenment Exercise

Enlightenment is easy. It’s your birthright. It is just simply finding out who you are. Realizing who you are. Admitting who you are.

You’re you. You’re nothing. You’re not that important.

So I’m gonna just show you how to do it.

A couple of rules to start out with

First of all — you’re not going to get anything out of this. You’re not going to get smarter. You’re not going to get prettier. Nobody’s going to like you any better (they probably won’t like you as much). You’re not going to suddenly become a fabulous teacher.

Don’t think that this is going to give you any kind of powers, anything like that. It’s not going to make you happier… yes, you will be happy lots of times but it’s not gonna be this magical bullet of happiness.

You’re going to just be a person: be who you are.

The Exercise

Here’s what you do. Simple.

Just think (yes… think) “I’m already enlightened.” Shut your eyes and look and see. What is that? What is already there.

Shut your eyes and look to see what is already there. Already there.

You’re gonna find out that there’s nothing. If you actually just look at what’s already there it’s nothing. Look a little bit closer and you’ll see that that nothing is everything. There is a hum to it like a like a vibration. Like it’s alive. This nothingness everything. You can see it quickly when you close your eyes. You can see it with your eyes open too, but closing your eyes makes it just a little bit easier.

When you see it, it’s just normal. It’s like… oh yeah, of course.

Then step back into it. Accept it. Become this. This is me. I am that.

If for some reason that doesn’t work it would be because you tried. Because you didn’t really listen to what iI said. Do it again. Do it again and again.

Now all the really good teachers (unlike myself) say that the more you refine yourself, the more you perfect yourself, the more hours of meditation you do, the more you practice loving kindness, and work on spiritual things the easier this revelation will be.

It’s possible they know what they’re talking about. So during your pause times in doing this exercise go back to lovingkindness, do more meditation. Then just keep coming back to this.

Enlightenment is you. It’s your birthright. It’s natural and simple. It’s right there. Right here.
