Hierarchy and nonduality

Those of us in the Western world, the civilized world, are captured, all the time, by hierarchy. I see this a lot in non-duality teachings.

Very often, people make it so obscure that only the most important of us can grasp it. Huge long words and sentences describing… I don’t know what! I can never understand it. Shrug.

Having it that complicated immediately turns it into a hierarchy because then you have people who say, “Oh, I understand this and the Brahman is this and that.” And then you have all the other people who listen avidly to them in awe, “Oh, you understand it.”

But if we saw it as simple, simple, simple, natural, a human being’s birthright we couldn’t turn it into power. Then it’s a game. Something we are joyfully bringing ourselves to. Then there can’t be hierarchy.

Back to what I always keep saying: if you thought it was doable, there wouldn’t be hierarchy.
