New Series: Nondual Spirituality

I’m starting a new series on non-dual spirituality up on Youtube. There are twelve subjects that will be posting three or four times a week. In the end it will all be compiled into a Youtube online course… which is a new feature on the site.

Hopefully it will be useful.

Nonduality is a tricky subject because the basis of it is knowing who you are. That’s a very, very simple thing to know, and yet we have made it incredibly complicated in our modern world.

This is mostly because of our beliefs on what spirituality is. That’s where nonduality comes in. In non-duality we try to deconstruct the things that we believe. Fortunately, that’s very easy, because when you look straight at the crazy things we believe, we can see that they’re obviously not true.

By honest inquiry we work through illusions—over and over—until we eventually come to a moment of truth. We realize there are a lot of things about reality that we can’t describe. We have to simply experience them, and that’s where we locate ourselves as the experience. It helps to relax into the process with a trust that you have the ability to know what’s real and what’s not real. You know what’s healthy and good. You have the ability to bring these things forth and use them as a lens to look at all the crazy things that we’ve been taught to believe.

Non-dual spirituality is knowing who you are.

Obviously, I can’t tell you who you are. I’m not the expert on you. Every single one of us needs to find this solid inner being of who we are by ourselves.

I can point you in the right direction, but eventually there comes a moment where we realize that words don’t really tell the story. And so you’ll notice at the end of my videos—if you watch any number of them—that when I get to the end, I kind of come to a stopping place where we just have a moment of silence. And that’s the moment where you can easily step into yourself and notice who you are. You notice who is animating. What your animation is. What’s this inner perspective that you’re always coming from?

When this inner knowing is acknowledged, you become a magnificent, self‑knowing being. The confusion disappears.

So I’m going to go through a series of videos. Matter of fact, it’s going to be twelve videos where I go through, step after step, things that knowing who you are creates—states of being that are possible when you know who you are. These are things like not being confused, not hurting yourself or others anymore, having boundaries.

It’s going to be, kind of, rambling; talks on non‑duality always are. But stick with it, because the process of rambling through it is what loosens our fixed state of beliefs.

So I’ll kind of ramble along, and a lot of it will make sense to you. As things make sense to you, your sense of self will grow stronger. Your holding on to untrue beliefs will lighten. That’s why it’s, really interesting to simply spend some time with these ideas without stressing about what everything means.

Think about it this way: how much time have you spent becoming confused about life? How much time have you spent building up the angst that’s constantly running in your head?
A whole lifetime, right?

So turn it around. We can relax into letting these things, dissolve and find out who we really are.

What is this seed of knowing?

See? There it was—that little silence.

Could you feel it? How, when we suddenly stopped talking, something more real happened?
