A short non-dual history of the Americas.
It is starting to become obvious, from the many new histories that are being taught about the way that people were living in the Americas before the white man came, that this land is an example of how people can live in a non-dual society. Not that there were never any problems (and that should not be your reason for studying non-duality anyway), but the way that the society of the Americas worked for generations was non-dual. It was based on belonging and connection.
The natives of this land were taught that they were part of the world. They belonged and listened.
Every story that you read about how a traditional native child was raised is that they were constantly being told that all the animals are your are your brothers and sisters, we are part of it, everyone is related: all my relations.
We are not only related to the things that are around us, we are related to everything that has gone before us. All the ancestors that have gone before us are still here. All the children that are going to be coming along behind us are coming into this world that we are creating and arranging. They are part of us. One thing is happening.
In this land the people were constantly being told to look. Listen to these things that are around you. These are your teachers. These are your brothers and sisters.
I love the stories that that we get from like New Zealand and Australia where everyone is an auntie or an uncle. Aunties and an uncles, and we belong. Our storyline is a storyline that’s intertwined with the earth, and the trees. It is into the sky.
The teachings tell us that we have to constantly pay attention: to be good and honest and true, and to participate. Always being told to see and belong with things that are around us.
I think as more and more of this comes to light, more and more stories will be made available to us. If we listen with a open mind things will open up. Like, what is it that’s actually being taught? How does this change the way we live our day-to-day lives? This will make a real difference in how we interact in the world.
We are part of everything. We need to constantly be told that.
That’s why I’m constantly posting short videos saying, “You’re part of everything. You’re part of everything: the trees are here, the mountains are here, all the other people are here. The more we’re told that, instead of told about all the ways that we’re separate, the more it will integrate into our world.
As we integrate, then everything integrates together. Then we’re going to be able to move forward, move on out of the sense of separation that we’ve been stuck with for a while. We’ll move back into a connected world and be living in this non-dual state it’s our birth right. It’s the way the human being was designed to live.
