Nonduality and AI
Artificial intelligence, right? First of all, artificial intelligence is not intelligence. All it is is a huge language base and fast enough computers that are able to go through this language base and put together words that match words that have been put together before. It’s really kind of not intelligence at all, but actually, AI is an artificial language base. The way our thoughts usually work is so similar. That’s actually the way the human thinking brain works. You have been just pounded full of English and stories and pictures and ideas your whole life, and your brain just takes all these things and puts them together in a kind of habitual way that makes you just blindly go through your life thinking you know what’s going on.
So AI and the way the unconscious mind works are very, very similar. If you get on the computer and type some stuff in and play with all the little AI programs that are around, you’ll see this immediately. The image creators are such fabulous examples. Get in there and have it type a person doing something or other. They’re always getting the fingers wrong. There will be not five fingers, but four fingers, or there will be seven fingers on a hand, and they’re in weird ways and going in weird directions. Or maybe the legs are going off wrong on a person. It’s just obvious a drawing has been drawn by AI. After you’ve created a few of them and seen them, they’re silly. That’s exactly how our brains work—just this programming in there that comes up with silly unrelated things all the time that don’t always piece together exactly what’s going on in a completely effective way.
So AI and nonduality—you look at all these AI things that are written, and you can start seeing similarities to your own mind, your own brain. When you start seeing it that way, you start realizing, “Oh, that’s kind of just a thing that just seems to run by itself in my head. Wait a minute, who am I?” When you find out who you are, then you can start kind of managing this AI robot. The actual intelligence of us is very different from this programming. It’s this exact actual intelligence that it takes to run a human life well, to be a decent human being. All of our stories about when the robots take over the world—they’re never decent, are they? Really kind of step back and look at it, and that’s kind of what happened: robots have taken over the world, and the robots are us. We need to become conscious so we’re not these robots that are destroying the world anymore.
One more thing about AI and nonduality is that lately, like in the past couple of weeks, I have been running across all these YouTube channels that are about nonduality, and they’re just obviously created by AI. That kind of means two things. First of all, most of the nonduality teachings are so bad that these robots can just copy them. Second of all, these channels have thousands of followers. They’ve got beautiful pictures, and they’re talking about happiness and all the desires that we have. It’s just sucking people into it. That just goes to show how our robot mind is so easily programmed and so easily fooled.
So, your assignment for this week is to go out and start noticing all the channels on YouTube that certainly look like they were created by AI. I mean, they even have little robot voices narrating them. Are they fooling you? Do you think that’s actually telling you something, or is that just repeating and repeating the same old useless story that’s stuck in our mind anyway?
