Nonduality is Easy

Nonduality is easy.

Thinking about nonduality can be very complicated. Talking about it certainly makes it complicated. Watching videos where everybody’s talking about it certainly can seem complicated, can’t it? But the actual nondual state itself is very easy.

It feels complicated to stop being complicated. We can complicate that too, infinitely. Describing the complications we feel about being a human being can take a whole life. Being easy and natural can also take a whole life.

As a matter of fact, down underneath all the complications we make of everything is the easiness of it all. Ease is always there, always available to us. So that’s why it’s really easy to know that nonduality is easy.

The second we think that it’s complicated and difficult, all sorts of madness comes up. We start thinking that it’s something we’re going to attain, that we’re going to become this fabulous being whom everyone comes running to as soon as we’re enlightened. We think we’ll never make another mistake, that we’ll always be happy, and that we’ll always be in bliss.

The second we start thinking that the nondual state is this list of qualities that are not us, we lose hope of getting there, because we can never not be us.

It is relaxing into the ease of our humanity that makes us be our very best selves.

Undo that all with a new thought. The more you think that nonduality—the nondual state itself—is easy, the less you’ll be drawn towards complications. This idea gives you a great tool for looking honestly at the different nonduality studies you may be doing.

If you’re reading some book and you’re think, Well, is this easy?—if it’s not, then go do something different. Go for a swim, go for a walk, play some music. These things will help you find that place of ease.
