Nonduality is Relaxing

Nonduality is relaxing, and this is the most useful way to think about it.

You can’t force yourself to relax, right? If you sit there thinking, “I’ve got 10 minutes to relax,” you’re going to be all tense through the whole 10 minutes.

Relaxation comes over us naturally when tension is gone, so it’s more like a lack of something. When tension is gone and worry is gone, relaxation simply comes, because relaxation is what exists when tension is gone.

Nonduality is what exists when duality is gone. It’s really that simple.

So if you’re searching for nonduality, relax. If you don’t yet understand what it is, just constantly remember relaxation.

I don’t even want to say to meditate and relax because if I say that, then you’re attempting to relax, and you’ll never, ever relax. Always know that there’s a moment of relaxation, and in that moment, full awakening can happen.

Even if it doesn’t, you just had a really nice relaxing moment, right?

Don’t get all lazy and useless and never do anything, but constantly remember that relaxation and nonduality are the same thing.

Awakening is a relaxed way of being. In fact, it happens to us when we’re completely relaxed. This is why it’s called the end of suffering, because when you’re not so tense and held against the world all the time, nice and relaxed, that’s where true life comes to play.
