Reaching into the inner depths… it’s actually a very useful way to think about spirituality (although technically it’s backward). But the idea of reaching into the inner depths gives us, gives us an opportunity to stop for a second, take that breath.
Here we are.
It’s habitual for us to live on the surface – all the things that are happening around us, all the thoughts that are happening, the emotions that come up as things happen around us – this is the surface. Underneath this is the calm place of being.
Now, I said that that’s actually backward, and actually it is. If you stop and just really see inside, there’s nothing there. The inner and the outer, there’s not like a line that separates these things. We just get caught in what I’m right now calling, “the outer.” The inner is you. The outer is you. There’s no separation between you and all of the world, all of the molecules, all of the beings.
So, this deep innerness is what is looking. We can relax right into it.
