Seeing ourselves in a new way is the easiest way to open ourselves up to the true self, the living being who is down underneath your false concepts. Enlightenment is everyone’s birthright. If enlightenment is everyone’s birthright, then that means that human beings naturally live in this space. It only makes sense that throughout most of history, that’s where human beings were residing—in a place of not feeling separate from the world. It’s only in the past few centuries, with the advent of civilization, that we’ve been taught we are separate.
If we live in a world where every action is about how we are intertwined and integrated in the world, and how to live in the world as an actual relative of everything rather than as the dominant species over everything, imagine living without owning things, without separating us into “us” and “the other.” That’s true freedom.
