11. How to Have a Mystical Experience

Advanced Meditation!

So we’ve gotten really good at enjoying ourselves, at paying attention to ourselves. Hopefully you’re getting better and better at sitting still. We’ve learned how we can switch back and forth from the different modes that are inside our experience.

So… how can you, on purpose, have a mystical experience?

It’s very easy and you’re getting closer and closer to it because the more you just relax and then let that empty part of yourself come to the forefront the more you realize that the mystical experience is always there. With this understanding you can have a mystical experience just by sitting quietly, at any time, enjoying yourself and relaxing.

Game Changer

Think about how powerful this is. It’s a total switch because up until now we’ve always thought the mystical experience was something that magically came over us. You don’t really have any control over it. It just suddenly happens.

Maybe maybe you had some amazing experiences yourself, or maybe you’ve heard of other people who have had amazing experiences. Think about this… how big does it have to be to all it a mystical experience?

This is just the mind and conditioning talking. We tend to only call the really huge, explosive, amazing experiences a spiritual “true” mystical experience.

Why is that?

The true spiritual experience, of Enlightenment itself, is a very relaxed, ordinary day-to-day contentment that is so deep you can call it bliss.

A Simplicity Rebellion

What we’re wanting to do here is access that silent knowing part of ourselves more and more. I’m a big proponent of rebelling against all the nonsense that’s been taught to us throughout history and discovering it on our own. Yearning to discover simplicity is key.

I’m also a real proponent of naming things differently, changing the paradigm. If you change your paradigm to understanding that the mystical experience is this quiet knowing. Then you can stop expecting so much out of yourself and start appreciating all moments of your life.

Hopefully this will make your meditation time more and more pleasant. Because, let’s face it, if it’s not pleasant, you are not going to stick with it for for the rest of your life.

So let’s make this be the thing. Call simplicity a win and enjoy it as often as possible. You can have a mystical experience anytime you want by simply quieting down.
