The big disservice of Eastern traditions is that it has made what we call Enlightenment or Awakening such a special state, exotic to the point of being unachievable.
And then, whole societies have built themselves around the idea of this glorious, fabulous enlightened person. Now there’s always the possibility that
Look at it for yourself. How is it working in your life? What if we were not all trying to get this to this exotic, amazing state? What if this was seen as a state that’s simply available to everyone?
It would be useful to drop the specialness out of the spiritual search. Then at the very least, we can relax.
